Ghost kitchens? Well, they have always been a thing.
I thought it was an interesting concept when my colleague proposed that I do a write on ghost kitchens, and I responded, “a write about what?” The Christian in me thought, “no man, please do not ask me to write about foreign spirits”. Well, it was after he explained what is meant by ghost kitchens that I learned that we have always had ghost kitchens. They have always been a thing where I come from. Goodness, even in high school, we had a “ghost kitchen”.
Ghosted
Having newly learned the not so new but new phrase to me, “ghost kitchen”, one realizes that there are those amongst us who have ghost kitchens in their homes, or should I say, our kitchens are sometimes ghosted kitchen simply because we do not buy groceries because of our busy schedules. We live on cereal and toast. Are you one of those who get home only to head straight to bed? Oh well, shower and then straight to bed?
Being resourceful with our resources
The ghost kitchen concept aims to help those who own restaurants to be resourceful with their resources. Even before the country’s lockdown, there have times where most restaurants had to close their doors due to reasons known to them but to others it because they struggle to stay afloat, something that we should never wish upon anyone. No one should ever see their business close its doors after any investment made to it. Have you ever thought of introducing a ghost kitchen in your already existing kitchen? I believe introducing a ghost kitchen in your restaurant could assist with growing your revenue, and then partner with the Mychef Food App to deliver to your customers, and they not only deliver food for you, but they have lower commission rates, provide free marketing and are hands-on with the customer service.
How tech can assist boost your sales.
For a ghost kitchen to thrive, there must be a willingness to use technology. Considering that there might not be a physical restaurant, technology (good marketing and the Mychef Food App) is there to offer you the best tech support you need to thrive. Though I do not want to sound arrogant and ignorant, considering a ghost kitchen might be a great move for your business, even when you have a functioning restaurant. Ghost kitchens have always been there, you and I just need to find a way to make it in our modern society.
